Tips for All Types of Software Used in Business
As time goes by, more and more of our day to day business functions require the use of or involve software. From accounting to project management, there are numerous aspects of business that are greatly aided, and sometimes fully automated by the use of readily capable software.
Here are some helpful tips for all sorts of software used in business:
Frequently Check your Open Invoices Report: When using accounting software, such as QuickBooks, it’s always a good idea to look at this report. As most people could figure out, customers listed in this report owe you money. Some of them may be delinquent; others may not want to pay you at all. The bottom line is that an open invoice report will keep you organized. If a customer had an invoice and paid it in full it should not appear on this report. Also check and see if you have customers with invoices and payments listed with a zero balance or customers with invoices and credits listed with a zero balance.
Utilizing Computerized Checks: Paying bills with the help of software can become a lot easier when you use computerized checks through the accounting software program of your choice. All you have to do is simply enter the address and payment information one time. Then, you use windowed envelopes to send out checks quickly.
Use the Memorized Transactions Feature: You want to save some time? Then use this great tool in your favorite accounting software. Essentially, you’ll need to enter the transaction exactly as you'd like it to be memorized. If the content of certain fields needs to change every time you recall the transaction, simply leave those fields blank. Which transactions should you have your software memorize? How about invoices, statement charges, automatic deposits, checks, or bills? They all can be memorized quickly and efficiently.
Unfortunately for most, we are usually not aware of half of the capabilities of many of the software programs we use each day at our jobs. Be sure to try these tips the next time you’re learning some new software. You’ll be glad you did.
