Project Management Software Discussions

Project Management Software - On the Go!

It seems like a lot of the hype in the project management software sector has been about iPhone applications. Mobile friendly applications that are usually strictly iPhone friendly are also beginning to be developed for the iPhone's attempted rivals- the Droid and BlackBerry. But I can't help but wonder, is it really worth it to take the time and develop an application for three different mobile phones?

My gut says ‘probably not.' The number of robust and user friendly mobile phones will only increase from here, and then what? Are all the software companies supposed to talk about how cool their iPhone, Droid, BlackBerry, Nexus One, etc. applications are?

Don't get me wrong, the benefits of having access to your project management system from a mobile phone can create a long list. Especially with the growing population of global teams, having all of that information available in your pocket makes it easier than ever to stay connected and updated with real-time data. But it might be easier for everyone if all of these mobile phones just developed better browsers, and/or software companies focuses on developing mobile-friendly interfaces that work on all mobile phones and still give users access to important project information (i.e., Tasks, To-dos, Issues, etc.). Now how's that for a challenge?
