Less is More
Project management software can be extremely detailed and often requires a lot of time to set everything up on the administrator's part. However, depending on the role at hand, it is more often than not that team members don't need to see every column, field, document, project and more within the project management system. Actually, the very sight of every project the organization is working on or even all of the tasks they are assigned to for the next month can be terrifying.
What to do? Well, less is more. Show the team members only what they need to see. It will make it easier for them to navigate and simplifying any process drastically reduces the chances of steps falling through the cracks. Do some team members only enter time? Great- make their "homepage" their timesheet. Or, does your team reference their task list frequently? Simply have their list of tasks for the week the first thing presented when logging into the project management software. Look out for project management software that can sort and present cleaner views for the team members. Powerful permission capabilities that controls who can see or edit particular projects can be extremely helpful in implementing this concept too!
