Project Insight and the Project Management Webinar Series

Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI) is the non-profit standards body of the project management industry. PMI is building credibility to our industry and profession by building membership, creating official certifications for the profession, and setting the framework for project management concepts. This framework is better known as A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge or the PMBOK® Guide.

Because many Project Insight team members are new to portfolio, project and resource management, Metafuse offers the Project Management Webinar series. These project management webinars introduce Project Insight project management software users to the values, ideas and techniques of the 2009 PMBOK® Guide.

In addition, we are providing additional advanced topics on methodologies and tools in project management and business analysis that is a MUST for every project manager and their team leads. The more the entire team understands the value of these tools to the success of the overall project, the more effective the project team will be.

Each month our partner, Core Performance Concepts, Inc., a Registered Education Provider for PMI, will deliver a session from the Project Management Webinar series as well as an advanced topic. Each session will provide detailed examples and approaches to using many of the tools and techniques presented in the PMBOK® Guide.

What's more, these courses are offered at no additional charge to our customer base. That is how committed we are to helping your project team become the best possible.

What is Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI)?

The PMBOK® Guide has been developed and promoted by PMI, Project Management Institute Inc.'s ANSI Standard, is globally accepted and is an integral part of the structure of Project Insight, web-based project management software. Having a set of professional standards, and agreed upon structure and language gives professional portfolio, project and resource managers the ability to apply their skills to processes used in any organization, in any industry.

The creation of professional certifications also legitimizes the profession, while permitting individuals new to the industry to become educated in PMP methodology and processes through professional training. Certified training courses now offered, mean that the project management profession is maturing and becoming accepted in the corporate world. The CAPM and PMP certifications are the most popular; however, there are many other offerings available.

Many companies in corporate America are realizing that project management is not another 'role' people play in addition to their normal jobs. It is instead, a full time role that deserves its own direct reports and budgets. More and more companies are creating project management offices (PMOs) charged with aligning projects in the portfolio with the strategic goals of the organization. PMPs within the project management office determine when these projects should be launched, assign resources and oversee management of the project schedule.
