Pioneer Telephone Replaces Excel for Project Insight Project Management Software

IRVINE, Calif., July 28, 2015 – Pioneer Telephone (www.ptci.com) a multi-service telecommunications corporation, has dropped Excel sheets and implemented an innovative and effective way to manage their projects and resources with Project Insight (www.projectinsight.net) project management software.

The Oklahoma based company provides an array of telecommunication products and service to more than 150,000 customers and members in 76 communities spread throughout 30 western Oklahoma counties.

Pioneer has come a long way from their Excel spreadsheets and handwritten notes. Before implementing Project Insight, the company was facing serious challenges with their data and resources. With remote employees and time consuming emails, conference calls were just not enough to maintain their project updates in real time or properly track their resources.

At this point, it was clear that Pioneer was in need of a solution. New to the project management software field, management took initiative to research and evaluate potential tools that were both sophisticated enough for their projects, yet easy for their users.

“Our main focus was to transition from an inefficient manual system to a highly efficient automated system. Therefore, we wanted a scalable system that allowed us to begin small and allow us to gradually grow as large as we wanted,” said Justin Brewster, Department Manager of Wireless Infrastructure.

The only solution that met all of their requirements was Project Insight, project management software. Pioneer Telephone implemented the cloud based project and resource solution in Q1 of 2014. Project Insight successes included:

  • Replaced the manual system for greater efficiency and productivity
  • Gave employees more control over their projects
  • Provided management with real time reports
  • Allowed managers to be proactive, not reactive
  • Permitted managers to better allocate resources and set priorities

Today the program’s central repository provides transparency, allowing managers, resources, contractors and vendors to view what is happening in real time, which improves collaboration.

“We transitioned from being reactive to being proactive,” said Brewster. “Now that we’ve achieved our primary goal,” Brewster concluded, “We plan to learn many of the other features that will make our jobs even easier.”
